Fluoride. The Silent Killer

NAS has asked scientists to investigate the effects of fluoride exposures in the United States.  What they found is it's a major contributing factor to chronic health problems, like bone disorders, thyroid disease, low intelligence, dementia, and diabetes, particularly in people who are most vulnerable to fluoride’s effects. [2] There are many studies, including Harvard studies, showing that fluoride decreases IQ levels in children.

Most nations do not even add fluoride to their water.  We are one of the few that actually have it added to our water supply.  So why?  It doesn’t prevent tooth decay, really it is contributing to it.  Many countries that do not have fluoride in the water, do not suffer from more tooth decay. Fluoride is the only chemical that is added to the water supply that isn’t meant to treat anything.  The United States in reality has a large amount of tooth decay.  There are a large amount of teenagers that are experiencing “dental fluorosis”, which is when the fluoride interferes with the tooth-forming cells and depletes the tooth enamels.

Recently, fluoride was finally classified as a neurotoxin.  So where does that leave us?  It’s not there to protect our teeth, it’s harmful for our bodies, yet the government is pumping it through our water supply every day.  So what can we do?  There are water filtrations that will help reduce the amount of fluoride that we are consuming.  I also suggest using a non-fluoride toothpaste and staying away from fluorinated foods.  Many fruits and vegetables are sprayed with fluoride based pesticides and the residue remains and then we consume them.  Some common foods that show high levels of added fluoride are lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, and raisins. [3] It's best to always wash your fruits and veggies and to buy organic.

So what is the deal with all this talk about fluoride?  Why is my dentist suggesting using fluoride, if it is so bad for me?  If you are wondering the same things I was, then maybe you’ll find this information very interesting.

First of all, fluoride has never been safe.  We have unknowingly been using this toxin for years thinking that we are doing our teeth and gums a favor.  We have actually using this toxin without knowing much about it.  If you look closely on your tooth paste label, you will see warning labels.  Fluoride isn’t just focused in your mouth, it affects other parts of your body.  Fluoride is what you would call an “endocrine disruptor”.  Targeting areas like your bones, brain, thyroid gland, pineal gland and even blood sugar levels. Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil

Oil pulling is a 3,000 year old technique from the Ayurvedic Indian tradition.  The use of Coconut Oil cleans and detoxifies the gums and teeth.  The oil safety removes bacteria, while also whitening the teeth.  It is less harmful then using typical mouth washes that contain alcohols.

Oil pulling is easy.  Simply take about a spoonful of coconut oil and swish in your mouth.  If it is in a solid state, it’ll turn to liquid from the heat of your mouth.  The key is to “pull” the oil through your teeth.  Timing is key, so swish the oil back and forth for 10-20 minutes.  As the oil is pushed through the teeth, it removes the bacteria that leads to tooth decay and gum disease.  Be sure to spit out the oil, as it is now full of toxins and bacteria.
